Postcards 01 – Walks with Kika – Somewhere above our heads
Thematic walk through the center of Jelsa with a view directed upwards takes us on a search of shade where we will test our visual perception. We will also get acquainted with the canopies of public spaces, learn numerous interesting facts about them, study their benefits as well as the existing problems and the influence of surrounding factors.
The walk is led by Kristina Lazaneo, nature lover, horticulture engineer and garden designer, who by carefully observing and listening to the environment, cultivates a site-specific approach to greening the space.
Start of the walk: Monade, 10.00 a.m.
The walk takes place as part of the Postcards project, which aims to encourage research and evaluation of lesser-known elements of the local heritage of Jelsa and the island of Hvar and their (re)interpretation outside of the usual tourist-commercial narrative. Using the very idea of a postcard as a format for presenting a place to “others”, the aim is to strengthen the sense of local identity based on the richness of one’s own cultural and natural heritage, traditions, relationships and community practices that contribute to their preservation. The program takes place as concept development and announcement of the Jelsa Art Biennial 2023.
