The Field School of Hvar
The Field School of Hvar is a family slow-travel experience combining superb child enrichment, robust community for adults, and a stress-free setup. The program runs from June 1 through October 31 in 6 cohorts, ranging from 1 to 8 weeks long.
The enrichment program serves children ages 1 through 13. All instruction is in English with opportunities to learn Croatian vocabulary and culture. There is a part-time, parent-attended Early Childhood program for families with infants and toddlers. Kinder (serving ages 4-6) and Grades (serving ages 7 and older) are both drop-off programs which run 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Typical days include marine biology, boating, cooking, gardening, folk crafts, wooden boatmaking, and cultural visits. The program is staffed entirely by professional progressive educators and outdoor guides. The student-faculty ratio never exceeds 7:1.
For adults, there is an opening orientation, parents-only dinner, weekly apertivo, and other grown-up only outings, as well as a weekly cultural excursion, Friday night beach party, Saturday service opportunity, and Sunday Mass (optional) for the whole family. To eliminate travel stress, The Field School of Hvar provides walkable accommodations suitable for long-term stays, on-site coworking and pick-up/drop-off, and pre-travel guidance.
