‘Pinjata’ Wines
The Pinjata wine cellar is a family-run wine producing concern, which has been going for six generations. It is situated, as it has always been, in the old centre of Vrboska, beside the fortified Church of St. Mary. The Gabelić family make their white wines from two grape varieties, bogdanuša and parč, and their red and rosé wines from plavac mali grapes.
To complement their wines at the tastings, they provide various cold Dalmatian specialities, such as smoke ham (prosciutto), different types of cheese, salted sardines and seasonal salads.
Their ‘Bogdanuša’ wine is a high quality dry white wine, greenish-yellow in colour, with the typical bogdanuša aroma, full and balanced. It is characterized by a light, pleasant bitterness and a freshness which is rare in the island wines. It is of note that bogdanuša wine has the longest roots of the wines on Hvar Island.
Their ‘Plavac’ is a high quality dry red wine, made from the most popular Croatian black autochthonous grape variety, plavac mali. The wine is a deep red colour, with a full taste from its rich tannin structure.
The ‘Parč’ is a high quality dry white wine, golden yellow in colour, with a specific muscat flavour. It is made from the autochthonous grape variety of the same name, which is known as being cultivated exclusively on Hvar Island.
‘Rose’ is a high quality dry pink wine, made from the plavac mali grapes. It is excellent as a light refreshing wine during the hot summer days.
Wine tastings at the Pinjata wine cellar are an unforgettable experience, and the Gabelić family are looking forward to welcoming you!
