St. Anthony’s Feast Day
St. Anthony the Abbot, also known as Anthony the Great, Anthony the Hermit is Vrisnik’s patron saint. His Feast Day falls on January 17th, and is marked by a con-celebrated Mass in the morning, and a Procession in the afternoon, after a festive lunch. There is then much dancing, known in local dialect as ‘Vrisnički tonci’, with special dances for children in the afternoon, adults continuing later on, deep into the night. The atmosphere is always lively, the music always of high quality. Locals traditionally greet visitors with the expression ‘Na dobro Van došo sveti Antonij’, translating roughly as ‘Welcome to St. Anthony(‘s Day)’.
