St. Nicholas’ Feast Day

‘Every village has its Feast Day’, as a Dalmatian poem has it, and Zaštražišća on Hvar is no exception. The village patron saint is St. Nicholas, guardian of children and sailors, and his Feast Day on December 6th is celebrated in exceptionally festive style, starting with a con-celebrated mass in the village church in the morning, and continuing through the day (and much of the night!) with music, dancing and feasting.
