The Klapa Song Festival “Jelsa od Versa”

The Klapa Song Festival “Jelsa od Versa” will be held in the unique and enchanting setting of Jelsa’s Pjaca (main square).

This musical event is conceived—with the hope that it will be held for many years to come—as a competition of klapa groups performing traditional songs from the island of Hvar, as well as songs composed or arranged by Hvar-based authors, or songs whose theme is Hvar or Jelsa.

The festival award statue, “Shadow of the Rosette” (Sjena rozete), is an original work by academic sculptor Ivona Biočić Mandić, inspired by the rosette of the octagonal Baroque Church of St. John located in the very centre of Jelsa.
