Who is Antica Juras-Ljubić?
The Jelsa Library proudly announces an exhibition dedicated to the life and work of Antica Juras-Ljubić, a woman who was a true pioneer of education, culture, and humanitarian work on the island of Hvar in the first half of the last century. Born in 1899 in Split, Antica came from a prominent family with ties to Jelsa and Stari Grad, and her inspiring life path and legacy are an important part of the island’s cultural heritage.
Through the exhibition “Who is Antica Juras-Ljubić?”, visitors will have the opportunity to explore the Hvar cultural circle and gain a deeper understanding of the role and position of women of that era. The exhibition includes various works and writings by Antica, along with a special section dedicated to her story collection The Adventures and Misadventures of Ciplić Njuškalić, a beloved series among sea story enthusiasts, following the adventures of a small fish in the Adriatic Sea.
