Jelsa, Hvar 7.-15.08.2020. (each workshop 9:00 – 10:30)

7. – 8.08. Mastering the ancient Japanese technique of ‘Suminagashi’ / water painting technique. The technique creates unique graphic prints by mapping the surface of the water and exploring how different external influences can affect the surface tension of water. The workshop will be conducted outdoors in nature with an emphasis on a meditative approach. Children will be instructed to listen to nature while working and to focus on their thoughts.

9. – 10.08. Binding materials created during the previous days into individual art booklets / workshop diaries, by learning the techniques of classical bookbinding. playing with different bindings, (accordion, classical), cutting and merging different drawings, working on composition, and assembling structures.

11. – 12.08. Nurturing the awareness of sounds, their recognition, trying to navigate in space by emphasizing the sense of hearing through exercises in space, making sound maps, and transmitting sounds in visual form.

13.08. Underwater listening workshop in the port of Jelsa with Portuguese artist Francisca Rocha Gonçalves.

14. – 15.08. Fitting all the resulting prints, sound maps, and notes into the final art diary, making covers and producing stop animations of the resulting booklets.
