Hunting Season 2025 – 2026
Each year during the winter hunting season, avoid walking in the woodlands, wilds and fields on Sundays and Wednesdays, also some Saturdays. Officially the hunts last from 07:00 to 14:00 on hunting days.
Much of Hvar is hunting ground during the season, as there are hunting groups in most of the island’s settlements. Each hunting group is assigned a hunting area around their location and the hunt begins and ends there.
In accordance with the group’s Statute, the ‘Hvar’ Hunting Association defined the official hunting dates for 2025 to 2026 at a meeting held on August 28th 2025.
Sunday is the main hunting day throughout the season, plus some Saturdays and Wednesdays.
Hunts last from 7 am to 2 pm on the following dates:
- Fallow deer – 16/09/2025 – 15/02/2026
- Roe deer (male) 16/04/2025 – 30/09/2025
- Roe deer (female) – 01/09/2025 – 31/01/2026
- Woodcock – 01/10/2025 – 28/02/2026 – 3 birds per hunting day
- Pigeon – 01/10/2025 – 31/01/2026 – 3 birds per hunting day
- Edible dormouse – 01/10/2025 – 30/11/2025
- Quail – 21/08/2024 – 30/11/2024 – 10 birds per hunting day
- Rabbit / Pheasant – 19/10/2025 – 14/01/2026 (Wednesdays from 19/11/2025)

- Wild Boar – 21/09/2025 – 31/01/2026 Wild Boar hunting is on Sundays until 12/10/2025, on Saturdays from 18/10/2025 to 11/01/2026, and 18/01/2026, 25/01/2026, 31/01/2026.
