Children’s Festival

Jelsa Children’s Festival 2025

The Jelsa Children’s Festival, affectionately known locally as the ‘Children’s Wave’, is coming to Jelsa again this year. Organized by the Jelsa Tourist Board and the publishing house Ibis grafika, this Festival, initially conceived as a weekend event for children, has grown into a six-day event packed with a diverse and rich programme for children of all ages.

Grand Opening at St. John’s Square

The Festival will kick off with a grand opening in St. John’s Square, featuring presentations by local children. The programme includes singing by the school choir, solo performances by students from the music school, dance routines by young members of KUD Jelsa (Jelsa’s Folklore Group), and modern dance demonstrations. A special highlight will be the performance of the winning entry from this year’s Children’s Pričigin (story-writing competition), titled ‘Sveti Luka izi pulentu‘ (‘St. Luke eating polenta‘).

A Variety of Workshops and Educational Programmes

Over the six days of the Festival, children will have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of workshops. Organized groups of schoolchildren and preschoolers, including children from regional schools, will be able to enjoy workshops on knitting, dancing, drawing, as well as chemical experiments with Tinker Labs Split, marine biology with scientists from the Institute of Oceanography, besides listening to audiobooks, watching film screenings, sampling a book fair with selected children’s titles, and attending a lecture by the renowned astronomer Korado Korlević.

Not Forgetting the Entertainment Programme

For pure fun, the entertainment programme includes circus acrobatics by the popular ‘World of Magic’, which is sure to delight all attendees.

Unmissable!

This unique blending of fun, art, education with fascinating and useful activities makes the Jelsa Children’s Festival an event not to be missed. So check out the Festival programme and join the Children’s Wave in Jelsa. Be prepared for unforgettable moments, laughter, and learning. The Jelsa Children’s Festival offers something special for everyone!
