Children’s Festival Jelsa: “Children’s Wave”
The Children’s Festival Jelsa, affectionately known as the “Children’s Wave,” returns to Jelsa. Organized by the Jelsa Tourist Board and the publishing house Ibis grafika, this festival, initially conceived as a weekend event for children, has grown into a six-day event packed with a diverse and rich program for children of all ages.
Grand Opening at St. John’s Square
The festival will kick off with a grand opening at St. John’s Square, featuring performances by local children. The program includes performances by the school choir, solo performances by music school students, dance routines by young members of KUD Jelsa, and modern dance performances. A special highlight will be the performance of the winning story from this year’s Children’s Pričigin, titled “Sveti Luka izi pulentu.”
Various Workshops and Educational Programs
Over the six days of the festival, children will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of workshops. Organized groups of schoolchildren and preschoolers, including children from regional schools, will enjoy workshops on knitting, dancing, chemical experiments with Tinker Labs Split, marine biology with scientists from the Institute of Oceanography, drawing, listening to audiobooks, film screenings, a book fair with selected children’s titles, and a lecture by renowned astronomer Korado Korlević.
Entertainment Program
The entertainment program includes circus acrobatics by the popular “World of Magic,” which is sure to delight all attendees. This blend of education, art, and fun makes the Children’s Festival Jelsa an event not to be missed.
