St. James’ Feast Day

Traditional village festivals are a cherished custom in every Dalmatian community. Once a year, in honor of the town’s patron saint, a celebration is held for all friends, visitors, and guests. In Pitve, this takes place on 25 July.

There is an unwritten rule associated with these festivals: “You don’t invite people to the feast.” In other words, everyone who comes is welcome—there is no need to extend a personal invitation to each guest. And that is exactly how it has always been.
