‘Dance of the Sails’

The small fishing village of Vrboska has a proud heritage of fishing and shipbuilding. Traditional wooden boats with lateen sails are a special experience for the locals, as well as for guests. The Lantina Association holds its annual summer regatta together with workshops in Vrboska in honour of St. Peter’s Day, which falls at the end of June. During the summer months, the association stages weekly sailing demonstrations in the old boats, enlivened with music and a light show. This “Dance of the Sails” takes place regularly on the warm summer evenings in Vrboska and Jelsa. It is a unique, not-to-be-missed event which delights young and old alike.

The ‘Lantina Association’, based in Vrboska, is dedicated to preserving the style of Hvar’s age-old traditional wooden boats.
