Action to reduce plastic waste: please join in!
The Jelsa and Vrboska Tourist Boards have joined forces to take part in an awareness-raising initiative by the MOJ ŠKOJ (‘My Island’) Association (link to Facebook page, in Croatian) focussing on the problem of the plastic waste which is suffocating our planet.
The aim is to show that plastic waste is a resource to be used, not rubbish to end up in landfill. To that end, all types of plastic caps are being collected, not only around our area, but throughout Hvar Island.
The project is being organized in conjunction with the ‘Eko Proložac‘ recycling management company (link in Croatian). All the plastic caps collected will be sent for recycling, and the proceeds donated to local associations for the disabled and for humanitarian projects.
Please save all your plastic caps – from bottles, jars, toothpaste tubes and all other types – to put into the collecting boxes which are distributed around the island. If you wish to take a more active part in the project, order your own box to promote greater interest in your immediate locality.
Boxes are available from the Jelsa and Vrboska Tourist Board offices, or can be ordered from the ‘Moj Škoj’ Association by email: udruga.mojskoj@gmail.com.
